Assalam O Alaykum Dear Friends and Supporters,
On Saturday, October 15, Madina Institute Little Rock organized its first community service event with Women and Children First--the Center Against Family Violence. At least 28 youth and women volunteers from the Madina Institute brought food, hygiene kits, and Eid treats including candy, face painting, and henna/mehndi tattoos to over 45 shelter residents.
The event was a wonderful way to bring the joy and happiness of the Eid holiday to survivors of domestic violence and helped promote community ties between Muslims and non-Muslims—a key tenant of the Madina Institute.
The Shelter Advocate Manager, Holly Reynolds, expressed her thoughts about the event saying, “This was such a wonderful event for Women and Children First. Not only was it extremely good for the guests and children at the shelter, but it also helped to strengthen the bond in the community. We could not be more grateful to The Madina Institute for putting this event together and hosting it here for us all to enjoy. It was an amazing and magical day!!”
